Hardware

Operating System:

Windows 2000 Professional, Windows XP Home, Windows XP Professional, or Windows Vista operating system.

Processor:

Pentium 4 / M / Centrino

Free space/Disk Drive:

5+ GB available hard disk space, UDMA/33 or faster interface required.

System Memory:

512MB system RAM (1GB or more recommended)

Video Adapter:

Fully DirectX 8 compatible VGA adapter with 8MB VRAM (16 MB recommended). TV output support or scan converter required for output to TV/VCR. ATi Radeon or NVidia GeForce series cards are recommended because of excellent product and driver support, however they are not required.

IEEE 1394/FireWire:

OHCI Compliant IEEE 1394 adapter. 2 cards are required for dual camera capture.

Removable Media:

CD-ROM required for installation, CD-R and RW drives are supported for DirectCD archiving. Most other popular removable media formats are also supported for archiving.

Internet:

Internet connection is required for IGA participation and auto-update feature, DSL/Cable recommended. Internet connection is not required for V1 operation. Soundcard: Soundblaster compatible.

DV camcorder:

Any DV camcorder featuring IEEE 1394 / FireWire® / DV output. Manually adjustable shutter speed is highly recommended. Dual camera feature requires IDENTICAL model camcorders. Be sure to purchase the correct cable configuration to connect to your IEEE 1394 port (6pin > 4pin or 4pin > 4pin).
IMPORTANT: In few instances, certain brands of DV camcorders are not compatible with certain brands of laptops containing built-in Firewire capabilities. Therefore, we recommend you contact a V1 Account Representative to help you determine if the camcorder and/or laptop you are looking to purchase are compatible.

DV Bridge:

A DV Bridge will convert any analog signal (analog cameras, VCR output) into a DV compliant stream for use with V1. The system handles a DV bridge as if it were a true DV camera. Picture quality is almost identical to a true DV camera (but will not surpass original source quality). Dazzle Hollywood DV bridge, and Canopus DVnt>C-50 and DVnt>C-100 models are supported. Other DV Bridges may also work. Dual camera feature requires IDENTICAL model bridges. Due to design limitations, the DVnt>C-50 cannot be used in combination with another bridge or camcorder.

Scan Converter:

Required for output to TV or VCR if your video adapter does not have a built in TV output.

PC Microphone:

Required for IGA lesson voiceovers.

Amplified Microphone:

For audio portion of lesson on VCR tape. Output must be line-level for connection to VCR's audio inputs.

Drawing Tablet:

All Wacom drawing tablets that use the unified driver are supported. (ArtPad, Graphire, Intuos, PenPartner). Other tablets may also work, but have not been tested.
